David Booth (Rotherham, Yorkshire), a student at the University of Stirling, has been selected in the European team to play the students from the United States in the annual Palmer Cup at Royal County Down Golf Club in Northern Ireland on 28th – 30th June.
He is the only English player in the eight-strong squad and will line up alongside his Stirling University colleague Graeme Robertson from Scotland and team-mates from Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Apart from the Stirling University duo, five members of the European team are studying at American colleges.
Booth’s selection (picture © Tom Ward) follows his recent victory in the R & A Foundation Scholars tournament at St Andrews. He is a Yorkshire county player and is in the later stages of his studies at Stirling and plays off a handicap of +2.8.
The United States leads the series 8-6 having won for the past two years.
