1. About Us 

We are the English Golf Union Limited (company no. 05564018) with registered office at The National Golf Centre, The Broadway, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, LN10 6PU, trading as England Golf. We are the national governing body for amateur golf in England. 

  

2. These Terms 

These Terms apply when you register for and use England Golf’s iPlay service. Use of the service is conditional upon continued compliance with these terms.  

  

3. England Golf iPlay 

England Golf iPlay is a FREE service offering golfers access to a free-to-use average score indicator on the MyEG app, and connectivity with England Golf 

  

4. Benefits of iPlay 

When you register for iPlay you will be known as an iPlay user and you will be entitled to: 

• use the MyEG app and functionality made available through the app for iPlay users.  Although the MyEG App is free to download, only members of England Golf, iGolf subscribers and iPlay users are given login details.  Some “social” functions of the app require you to opt in and will be de-activated for those under 14) 

• access the iPlay online platform 

• offers and information from England Golf, affiliated clubs, county golf bodies and selected third parties with whom we may partner (if you choose to opt-in to email communications and are aged 14 or over). These benefits are subject to change 

• support for general and technical enquiries via iplay@englandgolf.org 

• the benefit of England Golf policies and procedures put in place to protect the integrity of the sport and the handicap system. Further details can be found below 

• access to previous scoring data as part of the Average Score Indicator (for those iPlay Users who have previously been a member of a golf club affiliated to England Golf or an iGolf Subscriber, and subject to scoring data being available on the England Golf WHS™ platform)  

 

iPlay does not provide the following:   

• a Handicap Index® under the World Handicap System: 

• playing rights over any golf course, 

• the right to enter into club, county or England Golf competitions  

• membership of England Golf and any of its entitlements 
 

5. Eligibility 

iPlay is open to all golfers (or aspiring golfers) who: 

• are not members of a golf club affiliated to England Golf 

• are not iGolf Subscribers 

• have a residence in England, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man 

• if under 14, have the permission of a parent or guardian to register for iPlay 

• accurately provide all of the information requested during the registration process 

• do not already have an iPlay account. 

  

6. Term 

Providing a golfer meets the eligibility criteria for England Golf iPlay, there is no set term for being an iPlay user. 

Once registered for iPlay, it is the responsibility of the golfer to de-activate their iPlay account.  An iPlay account can be de-activated at any time within the “My Profile” section of the iPlay web platform.  An iPlay account can also be de-activated by clicking on ‘Unregister’ on the MyEG App (iOS devices only) 

 

Once de-activated, you will no longer be able to access the MyEG app or the iPlay web platform.   

An iPlay account can be re-activated at any time by re-registering at www.englandgolf.org/iplay-signup   Please always ensure you input your previous membership number upon sign up to re-activate your account and access any previous scores submitted.  The membership number issued by England Golf upon registration for iPlay is a unique lifelong membership number  which should remain with a golfer during their golfing journey within iPlay, iGolf or club membership.  

 

7. Moving into iGolf or Club Membership in England 

If moving into golf club membership in England or joining iGolf, it is essential that you provide iGolf or the golf club with your unique membership number issued through iPlay.   

If you choose to join a golf club affiliated to England Golf or join iGolf, you will no longer be entitled to be an iPlay User.  Upon providing your unique membership number to your new golf club or iGolf, your iPlay account will be resigned and you will become a member of England Golf or an iGolf Subscriber respectively.   

Your access to the MyEG app will continue via the same membership number and password.  The functionality on the App as a club member or iGolf Subscriber will differ. 

Your average score data will be retained, but will not count towards your Handicap Index® under the World Handicap System™ 

If joining a golf club affiliated to England Golf, your opt in preferences for email communications will be carried over.  If joining iGolf, you will be asked to provide this information upon registration.  Other information and data that carries over includes, but is not limited to, the following: friends and profile picture. 

 

8. Registration Process  

Registrations must be completed online at www.englandgolf.org/iplay-signup  
We cannot accept any other method of registration for iPlay. 

The online form must be completed accurately and honestly, otherwise we reserve the right to cancel your registration. This includes the provisions relating to consent of a parent or guardian for iPlay users aged under 14. 

The online form contains a link to the England Golf Privacy Notice which sets out how we will process your personal data. You should read this document and let us know if you have any questions. 

Only one England Golf iPlay account is allowed per person. If it appears to us that an individual has registered on multiple occasions, relevant accounts will be cancelled or merged at our discretion. 

During the online registration we reserve the right to carry out eligibility checks. All personal data will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Notice, which is referenced above.  

If our system shows that you are still an active member of a golf club affiliated to England Golf or an iGolf Subscriber, you will not be able to register for iPlay, as per our eligibility requirements as detailed in clause 5.  If a previous member of a golf club affiliated to England Golf or a previous iGolf Subscriber, you are requested to provide your previous unique membership number to ensure that you continue with your previous account. If required, we reserve the right to contact your previous club for any information relating to your previous membership. 

We may also check that you have not been subject to any suspension under the England Golf Safeguarding or Disciplinary Regulations.   

We will send you an email to confirm your registration, which will also detail your unique membership number, and you are not an iPlay user until we send this confirmation email. 

Once you have received our confirmation email, you will be able to login to the iPlay web platform at www.englandgolf.org/iplay and access the MyEG App. 

  

9. What You Need to Do 

England Golf iPlay is intended to be an inclusive offer available to as many golfers as possible. To support you and all other golfers in enjoying the game and getting the most out of it, an iPlay user is asked to: 

• Download the MyEG App on your device – without it you will be unable to access the service 

• Keep your details up to date – if there are any changes to your contact details, please update these on the iPlay web platform or MyEG app 

• Familiarise yourself with the code of conduct or other policies of any club at which you are playing, and make sure that you adhere to them 

• Familiarise yourself with the England Golf Regulations or Policies that apply to you (further details are set out below) and ensure that you follow them 

• Inform England Golf via safeguarding@englandgolf.org if you have any unspent convictions relating to sexual or violent offences – this email inbox is only accessible by a limited number of professional staff in our safeguarding and legal teams and any information you provide will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Notice. 

• Inform England Golf via safeguarding@englandgolf.org if you have any concerns relating to the abuse of young people or vulnerable adults involved in golf. Safeguarding is the concern and responsibility of everyone, and we re-iterate that this email inbox is only accessible by a limited number of professional staff in our safeguarding and legal teams and any information you provide will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Notice. 

• Follow the Rules of Golf, follow golf etiquette and demonstrate fair play 

• Comply with the R&A’s Rules of Handicapping when attesting scores on the MyEG app. 

• Respect the rights of other players, golf course staff and officials 

• Take the safety of yourself and others into consideration 

• Follow any rules of the club you are visiting. 

 

If you do not follow these requirements, we may apply a sanction which may include, without limitation, suspension or cancellation of your iPlay account, restriction or limitation of the England Golf iPlay services, or some other sanction permitted by our disciplinary or safeguarding regulations. 

  

10. Important Information for iPlay Users

You should familiarise yourself with the rules and policies set out above, as well as the Rules of Golf. When you are starting out this can seem daunting. If you have any questions, please ask us via iplay@englandgolf.org   

If we consider any iPlay user is in breach of any of the above, we may cancel your iPlay account. 

  

11. Our Responsibility to You 

If we breach these terms or are negligent, we may be liable to you for foreseeable loss or damage that you suffer. We are not liable for any loss or damage that was not foreseeable, any loss or damage not caused by our breach or negligence, or any business loss or damage. 

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for any death or personal injury caused by our negligence, liability for fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability the law does not allow us to exclude or limit. 

We may update the MyEG App and iPlay web platform from time to time for reasons that include fixing bugs or enhancing functionality, which may mean that they are unavailable from time to time. We will try and keep any disruption to your access to a minimum. 

The MyEG App and iPlay web platform rely on a number of things working properly to enable you to enjoy all of the features. Many of these, such as your internet connection and/or mobile signal, your location (especially if you are outside mainland UK), your device and the app store, are entirely outside of our control. Although we will do everything we reasonably can to resolve issues, we are not responsible to you if you are unable to use any part of the app or online platform due to a poor connection or signal, fault in your device, app store failure or anything else it would not be reasonable to expect us to control. 

  

12. Other important information 

These terms are governed by the laws of England and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. 

No one other than you or us has the right to enforce these terms and you are not allowed to transfer your rights under this agreement to anyone else. 

From time to time, we may review these terms and any regulations or polices that apply under them. We will inform you of any changes and unless you inform us via iplay@englandgolf.org within seven days of us informing you, you will be deemed to have accepted such changes. If you do not accept any changes, we may need to, at our discretion, terminate your account.
