Annabell Fuller set for Women’s Open debut at Carnoustie

England national squad member Annabell Fuller will make her major championship debut this week at the AIG Women’s Open 2021 from Carnoustie.

Falling in the middle of Women and Girls in Golf Week, the Women’s Open takes place from 19 – 22 August, with Fuller flying the flag for the English amateur game.

The Roehampton golfer narrowly lost out in the semi-finals of last month’s English Amateur Championships, and is part of the GB&I squad for this month’s Curtis Cup in Conwy.

Fuller is one of eight amateurs who will compete for the Smyth Salver, awarded to the top amateur finisher at the tournament. Sophie Lamb was the last English winner of the Smyth Salver at the 2017 Championships at Kingsbarns in Scotland.

There are another 11 English professionals in the field, including former Women’s Open champions Georgia Hall and Laura Davies.

Hall, a graduate of our national talent pathway, was the last English winner of a women’s major, lifting the Women’s Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2018.
