Defending champions BB&O surged ahead in their second day match against Worcestershire at the English Senior Men’s County Finals when they won all three morning foursomes.
Team captain Ashley Brewer and Adrian Donkersley completed the clean sweep when they won the 18th with a birdie four.
The BB&O pair had trailed for two-thirds of the match before getting ahead on the 16th, only to be pulled straight back to all square after 17.
On the 18th Brewer, playing from the middle of the fairway, fired a superb eight-iron shot at the pin, finishing 3ft away. It was duly holed by Donkersley after Worcestershire had two-putted for par from the front of the green.
Earlier, BB&O’s senior international David Niven and former England player Andrew Stracey won another tight game 2/1, while David Cromie and George Best Wilson claimed their point by 3/2.
In the other match, the games were all decided by comfortable margins and Lancashire go in to the singles with a 2-1 advantage over Devon.
Gary Byrne teed off the matches for the second day and with international partner, Ian Crowther, birdied the first as they set off towards their 5/3 win. Tony Holt and Trevor Foster secured Lancashire’s second point when they won 4/3.
But Devon’s Mark Haskell and Rick Pillow kept their team in touch with their 5/4 winning margin. They made a rapid start to the game and were four up after six holes.
