Yorkshire’s Betty Sworowski will team up with Pat Wrightson this week as she bids to win a second successive Brenda King Foursomes title.
Last year Wakefield member Sworowski partnered England Senior Ladies international Julie Wheeldon to the crown.
Now, 12 months on, it will be Huddersfield GC member Wrightson who is by Sworowski’s side at Pleasington GC in Lancashire.
The event is normally staged over two days and 36 holes. However, taking Tuesday’s forecast for poor weather into account the format has been revised to 18 holes on Wednesday.
A year ago, Sworowski and Wheeldon finished two shots ahead of the field at Brough GC to end a three-year winning streak from Jo Shorrocks and Amanda Mayne.
This year’s tournament – the traditional season-ending event on the senior ladies’ circuit – will be contested by 72 pairings from around the country.
Ten ladies from the home club will take part in the championship named after former Pleasington member King – a past County captain of Lancashire who helped found the English Senior Ladies’ Golf Association.
