Ben Stow secured his maiden US collegiate victory after a dramatic playoff with Niclas Carlsson from Sweden in a tournament at Bulls Bay in South Carolina.
A member of the University of Kentucky team, Stow shot rounds of 69 73 and 67 to tie with Carlsson on seven-under-par 209. But Stow won the individual title in sudden death with a birdie on the 18th, the first playoff hole.

Stow, 22, went into the final round tied for third at two under par but his closing bogey-free 67 brought his birdie tally for the event to 14, including six on the final day.
“How good is Ben Stow to bounce back and win this week with a birdie on the first playoff hole?” said Kentucky head coach Brain Craig. “I am so proud of him. He works his tail off and it is nice to see it play off with a win.”
Stow’s closing 67 was his third sub-70 of the season, while his best finishes before the victory were two fourth places.
