Sisters Laura and Charlotte Barrow paired up to win England Golf’s South region foursomes championship on the Manor course at Bramshaw, Hampshire.
Laura, 17, and Charlotte, 15, are members of nearby Brokenhurst Golf Club in Hampshire. They were out in the first group and set the scoring target with their gross 32 points, net 38.
Their closest challengers for the scratch title were the Sussex pair of Emma Carberry (Highwoods) and Paula Carver (Worthing) who scored 31, gross and net. Emma is the winner of the 2012 English women’s mid-amateur and the South region women’s championships.
The Barrows also had the best net score but the first handicap prize went to Jane Graham and Julie Weatherdon of Bramshott Hill, on countback from their club colleagues Margaret Shepherd and Sue Lewis. Both pairs had 37 points.
This week the Barrows are representing Hampshire in the South region junior county match week at Basingstoke. Laura is captain and her team includes Charlotte, the 2011 Hampshire girls’ champion who trains with an England Golf Birdies squad.
