Scene set for English Girls’ Championship in Cheshire

Rosie Bee Kim will be chasing a special hat-trick of titles this week at the English Girls’ Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship at The Wilmslow in Cheshire.

The England girls’ squad member is currently the English Girls’ Under 14 champion and The R&A Girls’ Under 16 champion.

If the golfer from Buckinghamshire is to add to her trophy haul this week she will need to see off the threat from a strong field of players

Fellow England squad members Rachel Gourley, Olivia Lee, Ellise Rymer, Amelia Wan and Ellen Yates are also looking to follow in the footsteps of the 2021 champion, Patience Rhodes from Somerset.

The championship will be staged over three days starting on Tuesday with 18 holes played on each of the first two days.

A cut will be made after 36 holes and the leading 40 players and ties will then play a further 36 holes on the final day.

With high temperatures forecast for Tuesday, a two-tee start has been employed for round one with players out earlier and later than usual to take account of the weather conditions in the middle part of the day.
