Charlie Rusbridge will take a one-shot lead into the final day’s play of the Reid Trophy as he aims to fend off a charge from Cole Self at Lincoln Golf Club.
The Colne Valley golfer followed up an opening round of 69 with a one over par round of 72 in Lincolnshire to ensure an exciting final day is in store.
Self (pictured below) was able to close the gap as he shot 70 in a round which included six birdies and five bogeys – and a dropped shot at the 18th which meant he was unable to stay in a share of the lead.
Three players – Cameron Mukherjee, Alex Boyes and Arian Rodriguez Burgos – are currently tied for third spot on three over par.
Scotland’s Mukherjee and England’s Boyes both enjoyed superb second rounds of 69 in Lincoln to push themselves back into contention.
Mukherjee made three birdies and just the one bogey while Boyes had a much more up-and-down day as he carded six birdies, six bogeys and an eagle.
After the second round, the top 70 players now progress to the third and final day where another 18 holes of stroke play will decide the winner of the English Boys’ Under 14 Open Amateur title.
