Berkshire’s Rebecca Webb is chasing her golfing dreams. She’s just won the title of England’s female handicap golfer of the year and booked a place in the Bridgestone Challenge pro-am – where she’ll try to win a playing date with a European Tour star.
Rebecca, from East Berkshire Golf Club, won the women’s final of the Bridgestone Chase Your Dream Trophy on the world-renowned Hotchkin course at Woodhall Spa, the home of England Golf.
Now, Rebecca and the next-placed eight players on the leaderboard will join the top nine from the men’s companion final to make up teams for the pro-am of the Bridgestone Challenge at Luton Hoo on Wednesday 6 September.
The best of these teams will play with a star of the European Tour at the pro-am of the British Masters, supported by Sky Sports, on Wednesday, 27 September.
The other eight women qualifiers are: Gill Kapka (Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire) Francesca Leach (Woburn, Buckinghamshire), Ashlee Tyrrell (Rayleigh, Essex), Kathryn Naylor (Windlesham, Surrey), Debbie Ricketts (Parkstone, Dorset), Debbie Deakin (Mickleover, Derbyshire), Mandy Holden (West End Yorkshire) and Hannah Golding (Brocton Hall, Staffordshire).
The Chase Your Dream final was played as part of England Golf Week, the annual celebration of the handicap game.
Rebecca, a six-handicapper, had a net score of one-under 71, which included birdies on the 15th and 18th. She beat Gill Kapka and Francesca Leach on countback.
