Northamptonshire’s Callum Farr and Ben Jones played stunning golf this morning to set up their team’s 2-1 win over Yorkshire in the second day foursomes at the English Boys’ County Championship.
Farr, an England boy international, and Jones, who represented England at U16 level, had five birdies and two eagles on consecutive holes from the fifth at Cumberwell Park Golf Club in Wiltshire.
It took them from all square after four to five up after 11 holes and well on the way to winning their match 4/3.
Northamptonshire’s other foursomes point was provided by Robin Williams and Charlie Salter, who won 2/1.
However, Yorkshire’s Barclay Brown and Charlie Thornton kept up their winning ways, taking the other match 4/3.
In the other match Wiltshire, like Northamptonshire, bounced back from their defeat of yesterday to take the upper hand in their foursomes against Hertfordshire.
They won two of the three matches, courtesy of Tom Stagg and Dom Burgess (4/2) and Jamie Cooper and Joe Retford (2/1).
Hertfordshire’s Danny Daniels and Jon Hopkins maintained their winning form, taking their game 2/1.
