THE ENGLISH JUNIOR CHAMPION CLUB TOURNAMENT

The following must be read in conjunction with the England Golf “General Conditions and Rules”, “Hard Card” and other related policies applicable to all England Golf Championships, all of which can be found at www.englandgolf.org/championships

Conditions of Competition

1. The Tournament

a) The Tournament shall be played by 36 holes of handicap stableford over two days.

b) Each club team shall consist of three players (boys, girls or mixed).

c) The Winning Club shall be the one with the highest aggregate nett stableford score over 36 holes, taking the best two of three scores in each round.

d) Ties
i. In the event of a tie for first, second or third places, the third stableford score for each round will count and the tie will be decided on the 36 holes aggregate total of all three scores.

ii. If ties for those places still exist, placings shall be decided on the highest stableford scores (all 3 scores to count) according to General Condition 15b (countback) with all three scores to count.

e) Caddies are not permitted.

2. Entry Qualification

a) Each County Union affiliated to England Golf may nominate one club to compete in the Tournament. The choice of club shall be at the sole discretion of the County Union. Such choice may be through a dedicated competition between clubs, the selection of the County Junior League Club Champions or such other qualifying method as a County Union shall decide.

b) Entrants must be in possession of a competition “c” handicap not exceeding 28.4 (Boys) and 36.4 (Girls), under the CONGU Unified Handicapping System.

c) Club team members must be under the age of 18 at 00:00 hours on 1st January of the year in which the Tournament is played.

d) Each club team member must:

i. Be a current member of the Club when the Tournament is played.

ii. Have nominated the Club as his/her “home club” for handicapping purposes.

iii. Not have played for any other club in competitive events within the County during the calendar year in which this Tournament is played.

e) Entries must be made on the form prescribed by the Championship Department.

3. Teams: Composition and Substitution

No change in the composition or playing order may be made after 16.00 hours on the day before the Tournament commences, except in the case of sudden illness, injury, accident or such other emergency as the Championship Committee shall (in its absolute discretion) consider to constitute sufficient justification. In these circumstances, if the Championship Committee approves a replacement, the substitute will assume the same place on the draw sheet as that of the player being replaced.

4. Winner and Prizes

a) The Winning Club shall be the English Junior Champion Club and shall receive the Trophy and a pennant. The Winning Club will be responsible for the Trophy from the time it is presented until it is relinquished. It shall ensure the Trophy is returned, suitably engraved, to the England Golf Championship Department, in readiness for the following year’s Tournament.

Prize salvers shall be awarded to the top 3 teams.

5. Safeguarding of Children

Each Club shall ensure all appropriate protections/procedures are in place for its team members.
