Ten women amateurs from the Midlands South region are one step closer to playing with a star of the European Tour after qualifying for the national final of Bridgestone’s Chase Your Dream Trophy, run in partnership with England Golf.

They came through the regional qualifier, held at Sonning Golf Club, Berkshire.

The Sonning qualifiers were: Julia Warke, pictured, (Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire), Gillian Warner (Chiltern Forest, Buckinghamshire), Clare Lucey (Harborne, Warwickshire), Heather Keogh (Eton College, Berkshire), Francesca Leach (Woburn, Buckinghamshire), Rebecca Webb (East Berkshire), Amanda Rose (Nizels, Kent), Lisa Holloway (Harleyford, Buckinghamshire), Cathy Jones (Reading, Berkshire), Lucy Walton (Worcestershire).

They’ll compete against qualifiers from five other regional finals and the overall winner will be England’s female Handicap Golfer of the Year.

The top nine players will play in the pro-am of the Bridgestone Challenge, the English leg of The Challenge Tour, at Luton Hoo on 6 September.

They’ll be joined by the top nine players from the companion men’s championship, making up a total of six teams in the pro-am.

The most successful of these teams will go on to the pro-am of the British Masters, supported by Sky Sports, at Close House in Northumberland later in the same month, playing with a star of The European Tour.
