Lily May stays in front at women’s amateur

Lily May Humphreys

Lily May Humphreys has a two shot lead with a round to play in the English women’s amateur at wet and windy Lindrick, Yorkshire.

The 15-year-old from Stoke by Nayland started the round with a three-shot cushion, but her playing partner, India Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) narrowed the gap to just one after she birdied the 14th.
However Humphreys pulled ahead again with her own birdie on the 16th, as she played to a one-over par score of 73 and a two under total for the championship.
Clyburn, a member of England’s winning team at last weekend’s European championship, was round in level par 72 and is one-over after three rounds.
Among the other players in contention is Emma Allen (Meon Valley) who carded 73 this morning and is two-over. Then there’s a three-shot gap to Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) with Alice Hewson (Berkhamsted) and Olivia Winning (Rotherham) on six over.
