England’s European Tour winner and Ryder Cup team player Lee Westwood has sent his congratulations and good wishes to Worksop Golf Club who are hosting the England Golf Men’s Open Mid-Amateur Stroke Play Championship this week.
The Logan Trophy, as the event is more widely know, is contested by the top mid amateurs from England and overseas.
Lee who is in the country preparing for The Open and the Scottish Open Championships, has been visiting Worksop in the run up to the England Golf event and is certain that the club and course will be perfect for both the players and visitors alike.
“I am very pleased that England Golf is returning to Worksop for one of its championships. It is where I cut my teeth in golf and where I always feel at home,” he said.
“I’m sure all the competitors in the Logan Trophy and visitors will receive a warm welcome and I’m sure they will enjoy the course which is a true test and a real challenge.”
Lee added, “It is also a wonderful opportunity for golf fans to watch some of the more seasoned amateur golfers in action and although most will not be household names I’m sure they will produce some good scores and there will be a worthy champion at the end.”
The 52 hole Logan Trophy is being played at Worksop Golf Club, Nottinghamshire from 4th-6th July. It is free to watch the event and spectators are most welcome. For more information visit the Championship webpage.
