Joanne leads 10 Northern qualifiers to Grand Medal Final

Cheshire golfer Joanne Beech has led 10 qualifiers into the England Golf Grand Medal Final to find the country’s champion woman medal player.

Joanne, of Runcorn Golf Club, won the North Region final at Lancaster Golf Club, Lancashire, with a net score of level par 75.

The other players who won places in the Grand Medal Final, are: Susan Caton of Pleasington Golf Club, Lancashire; Veronica Whitehill of Crow Nest Park Golf Club, Yorkshire; Toni-Louise Naylor of Waterton Park Golf Club, Yorkshire; Linda Baxter of Fairhaven Golf Club, Lancashire; Naomi Brennan of Seascale Golf Club, Cumbria; Kate Anne Herron of Bedlingtonshire Golf Club, Northumberland; Susan Matchett of Selby Golf Club, Yorkshire; Kathryn Watkin of Castle Eden Golf Club, Durham;  Kath Findlay of Rossendale Golf Club, Lancashire.

All the regional finalists had returned the best four scores at their club in the England Golf Medals during 2015.

The successful 10 players will meet qualifiers from five other regional finals at the Grand Medal Final at Frilford Heath in Oxfordshire on Thursday, 13 August.

The Grand Final will be a feature of Golf Week, staged by England Golf to create a national grand finale for a host of handicap and team championships.
