Derbyshire’s Hannah Morrison completed a thoroughly impressive performance at Woodhall Spa Golf Club to become the 2021 Women’s County Champion of Champions.
Morrison carded two rounds of 73 in good conditions on the Lincolnshire course and her score of 146 saw her finish three shots ahead of nearest challenger Shannon O’Dwyer (Durham) and four shots clear of Katy Yates (Essex) who took third place.
A quadruple bogey on the 13th hole in the second round set Morrison back but she kept her composure superbly to shoot birdies on the 14th and 16th and an eagle on the 17th to record an excellent victory.
“It’s a massive honour, especially as someone who comes from a small county,” Morrison said. “I was hitting it really well but I made a few unnecessary bogies but then managed to putt good which really helped me. I had the horrible quadruple bogey on the 13th hole in the second round but I knew I could make up for that later on.”
