Golf Environment Organization

Among all sport and business, golf has a unique opportunity to make a powerful difference. Every golf club and new development can be a responsible, resource efficient business set in an ecologically rich landscape. Every golf event can be a showcase for sustainability. Every golfer can play a part, from juniors to international superstars. On a collective scale, this positive impact and example has great potential.

Helping the golf community tap into that potential is why GEO was founded. It remains our passion today.

Driving the Green

It is inspiring to imagine how much we can achieve by coming together around golf's sustainability movement. Real-world results and powerful communications.

Through programmes for golf management, development and events, our aim is to help bring this about by promoting, supporting, and rewarding credible action and serving a growing community.

  1. Advocacy - Inspiring golf to embrace sustainability and promoting a shared understanding of issues and solutions.
  2. Support - Providing practical, straightforward on-line guidance programmes and connecting people with sustainable golf expertise around the world.
  3. Certification - Strengthening the reputation of golf clubs and developments, GEO Certified™ is widely endorsed as the most credible, comprehensive ecolabel for golf.
  4. Community - Connecting the efforts and knowledge of the global golf community and recognizing everyone who is helping Drive the Green in golf.

GEO is known for a positive outlook and collaborative approach, and we are proud to serve many people in and around golf from greenkeepers to course owners; land developers to governments; national federations to governing bodies.

As a not-for-profit organization, our work is made possible through support and input from a wide variety of stakeholders and we are governed by a Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and Technical Commission and receive regular input from an international Stakeholder Forum. Our guiding principles include the highest standard of credibility and transparency; commitment to real-world results throughout the global golf community; and an ethos of continual improvement and collaboration.
