It is with great sadness that we note the passing this week of George Logan, a much respected past president and friend to England Golf. He was 96.
In 1987, George was elected president of what was then called the English Golf Union. He also held that same office with the Northumberland County Golf Union between 1979 and 1980.
A former captain and president of Seahouses Golf Club, George had been a member of the Northumberland Golf Club for the last 33 years.
George’s name lives on through our English Mid-Amateur Championship. Players compete annually for the Logan Trophy which has carried his name ever since he first presented it in 1988.
The event will act as a lasting legacy to a man who did so much to champion amateur golf in England.
George was a keen supporter of all our championships and everyone at England Golf extends their deepest sympathies to his family and close friends at this time.
