Five England players have been invited to take part in a Curtis Cup squad visit to Dun Laoghaire GC, near Dublin, which will host next June’s match between Great Britain & Ireland and the USA.
They are: Gemma Clews of Cheshire (Image © Leaderboard Photography), Alice Hewson of Hertfordshire, Meghan MacLaren of Northamptonshire, Inci Mehmet of Surrey and Rochelle Morris of Yorkshire. Bronte Law of Cheshire and Australia-based Charlotte Thomas – both former Curtis Cup players – are unavailable.
The five will join Leona Maguire and Olivia Mehaffey of Ireland and Chloe Williams of Wales for the two-day visit on 18 and 19 December. The players will get the chance to look round the course and facilities under the watchful eye of their captain, Elaine Farquharson-Black, and team manager, Helen Hewlett.
Elaine, who has been a member of a winning Curtis Cup team, said: "I am really looking forward to getting these players together and to start preparing for the Curtis Cup. I have been over to Dun Laoghaire Golf Club already and it is a fantastic course with great facilities."
The GB&I team of eight for the biennial match will be announced on Thursday 28th April 2016 at 2pm.
Six players will gain automatic selection – the top four GB&I players in the world golf rankings and the top two in the Ladies' Golf Union Order of Merit. Two other players will be selected to complete the line-up.
