England men’s squad player Ben Schmidt has got off to a flyer in 2020.
Now we can give you a sneak peek at the PING clubs that have helped the Yorkshireman become one of the world’s top-rated amateurs.
Last year the 17-year-old became the youngest ever winner of the Brabazon Trophy and also got his hands on the Carris Trophy, Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and the Justin Rose Telegraph Masters titles.
As if that wasn’t enough to have his mum’s mantelpiece groaning, he also helped the England men’s squad win the Home International title in Ireland.
In January, Schmidt headed to Australia with a group of England colleagues and simply carried his form of last season into 2020.
The Rotherham Golf Club member lifted the NSW Amateur by beating England team-mate Callum Farr in the 36-hole final and finished runner-up in the Avondale Amateur a week later.
Now Schmidt has his eyes set on more prizes as well as playing his part in a very strong England squad.
After returning from the Spanish International Men’s Amateur Championship in Seville last week, Schmidt took time out his schedule to peel back the hood on his team England golf bag and reveal the clubs he uses to such devastating effect.
- Driver: Ping G410
- 3-wood: Ping G410
- 3i: G410
- 4i-6i: Ping i210
- 7i-PW: iBlade
- Wedges: 50, 54, 58 degs Glide Forged

Schmidt said: “There’s nothing significantly new in the bag for 2020, because I love the feel and performance of these clubs.
“In particular, the Ping driver has been really good to me – to be honest it has been on a string for a long time.
“I feel it gives me a big advantage, putting me on the fairway to attack greens and trying to make good scores.”
All of us at England Golf say; long may that continue and good luck for 2020, Ben!
