England’s women will defend their Home Internationals title next week when they travel to Ireland and take on the challenge of Ballyliffin Golf Club.
A seven-strong team has been selected for the championship which, for the first time, will be staged at the same venue and at the same time as the men’s event from 3-5 August.
In addition to the women’s title, the men and the women will come together to compete in a joint championship run by The R&A.
England women’s team:
- Rebecca Earl – Bishops Stortford GC
- Rachel Gourley – Arcot Hall GC
- Lucy Jamieson – Heswall GC
- Olivia Lee – Gerrards Cross GC
- Hannah Screen – Berkhamsted GC
- Maggie Whitehead – Close House GC
- Lottie Woad – Farnham GC
Screen – winner of the English Under 25 Championship earlier this month (main image) – was part of the women’s team that won the Home Internationals Series in 2021 at Woodhall Spa.
Gourley, Lee, Whitehead and Woad step up for their first taste of the women’s event having won the Home Internationals with the girls’ squad last year.
Earlier this month, Woad (pictured above with Whitehead) was also part of the England women’s team that won the European Team Championships at Conwy Golf Club.
Former English Women’s Open Stroke Play champion Earl, and Jamieson – a student at St Andrews University and three-times Cheshire County champion – complete the line-up.
England will face Ireland, Scotland and Wales over three days with each match consisting of three morning foursomes and six afternoon singles.
