England’s senior men ready for new Home Internationals challenge

England’s senior men are primed to go for glory at the Home Internationals.

Captain Alan Mew has named four players and one reserve for the series to be staged at Woodhall Spa Golf Club from 4-6 August.

Reigning English Senior Men’s Amateur champion Rupert Kellock (pictured below) is joined in the squad by former British Senior Amateur champion Trevor Foster, three-time English Senior Amateur champion Ian Attoe (main image) and a newcomer to the senior circuit, Steve Jensen.

Yorkshire’s Richard Jones is selected as first reserve.

This year the format for the championship will see the senior men and senior women join forces in the one competition.

The eight-strong team will compete in four foursomes followed by eight singles with women playing against women and men against men.

Senior men’s selection

  • Ian Attoe – Worplesdon GC, Surrey
  • Rupert Kellock – Sunningdale GC, Surrey
  • Trevor Foster – Pleasington GC, Lancashire
  • Steve Jensen -The Wisley GC, Surrey
  • 1st reserve: Richard Jones – Rotherham GC, Yorkshire

Regrettably, England has withdrawn from the European Senior Men’s Team Championship at the Sedin Golf Resort in Slovakia from 31 August-4 September due to the ongoing uncertainty in planning for foreign travel to the region.
