England’s Gemma Clews, India Clyburn and Sophie Lamb will team up for the Nations Cup event at this weekend’s St Rule trophy at St Andrews.
Their best two scores will count in each of the three rounds of the championship. Competitors will play 36 holes on the New Course on Saturday and 18 holes on the Old Course on Sunday.
All three players have just been selected for the GB&I team to take on the Continent of Europe in the Vagliano Trophy in Italy on 30 June and 1 July.
Gemma Clews, 22, (Delamere Forest, Cheshire), is the Welsh women’s stroke play champion and was joint runner-up in the Irish stroke play. She has twice helped England beat Spain in the biennial international and holds an unbeaten record in the match.
India Clyburn, 20, (Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire) has won the English girls’ and Scottish U21 championships among other titles. She has won on the US women’s college circuit and tied 11th in the 2017 South American Amateur. (Image © Leaderboard Photography).
Sophie Lamb, 19, (Clitheroe, Lancashire) is the British women's stroke play champion, won the 2016 England Golf Women’s Order of Merit and was England's top scorer in the mixed international against Spain, winning all her games. She was joint runner up in the Irish women’s stroke play.
The team reserve is Georgia Price (Bude and North Cornwall).
