England’s four teams are all aiming for medals after sailing through the qualifying rounds at the European team championships.
The men, playing at Diamond Country Club, Austria, won the qualifying stage on eight-under par, finishing seven ahead of second-placed Norway. Tomorrow the team plays France.
The team score was helped by a second round score of seven-under 65 from Amateur Champion Harry Ellis (image copyright Leaderboard Photography). His bogey-free round started with three birdies in the first five holes and ended with a birdie, eagle, par, birdie finish.
Matthew Jordan (69) and European amateur champion Alfie Plant (70) were also both under par today.
The full team is: Harry Ellis (Meon Valley), Scott Gregory (Corhampton), Josh Hilleard (Farrington Park), Matthew Jordan (Royal Liverpool), Gian-Marco Petrozzi (Trentham) and Alfie Plant (Sundridge Park).
The women, who are defending champions, qualified fourth on 13-under par at Montado Golf Resort, Portugal. Tomorrow the team faces Germany.
The first round scoring was led by Gemma Clews, with a bogey-free round of four-under 68, and Alice Hewson who scored 69. Today Hewson again beat par with a score of 70 and Clews scored 71, while India Clyburn shot 69.

The girls’ team was third on eight-under par after 36 holes at St Laurence Golf, Finland. Now they play the Netherlands.
Hollie Muse was the low scorer of the first round with five-under 67 which included four birdies and an eagle. Amelia Williamson (70) and Emily Price (71) also both beat par.
Today the scoring was led by Bel Wardle’s 69, while Williamson repeated her 70 and Sammy Fuller shot one-under 71.
The full team is: Sammy Fuller (Roehampton), Lily May Humphreys (Stoke by Nayland), Hollie Muse (West Lancashire), Emily Price (Cleobury Mortimer), Bel Wardle (Prestbury) and Amelia Williamson (Royal Cromer).
The boys were two-under on the South course at La Manga, Spain and qualified in a share of fourth place. Tomorrow they play Denmark, the third qualifiers.
Toby Briggs set the pace on day one with a round of five-under 68, closely followed by Ben Jones on 69. Today Charlie Strickland and Angus Flanagan both returned scores of two-under 70.
