Three England Golf girl internationals prepared for next week’s European Girls’ Team Championship in Slovakia by playing with the top professional golfers in the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters Pro-Am at The Buckinghamshire.
Alice Hewson, Inci Mehmet, and India Clyburn, sister of Holly, a winner on the LET and runner-up in Italy, played with Hannah Burke, the runner-up to Catriona Matthew last year in Scotland. Hannah was an England international before turning professional three years ago.
India, said: “It was good fun today. We played in the pro-am with Hannah Burke and we got to practice with all the pros and we really enjoyed it.
“The course is good and the greens are so pure. Hannah was a great player to watch. A lot of times we hit the shots equally but what we need to improve on is consistency and our short game. It will be great going to the European Girls’ Team Championship next week in Slovakia with this experience.”
The European Girls’ Team Championship takes place at Golf Resort Skalinca, Slovakia, from July 8-12. Alice (Berkhamsted), Inci (Wentworth) and India (Woodhall Spa) will be joined in the team by Sophie Keech (Parkstone), Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) and Hollie Muse (West Lancashire).
Inviting talented junior golfers from England Golf to play in the pro-am is part of the Ladies European Tour’s new strategy to create a development pathway from entry level to the heights of professional golf by providing an inspirational vision to aspire through richer amateur golf integration, members’ education and services.
This is at the core of the organisation’s commitment to developing sport, seeking to build foundations for success on the world stage.
The ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters started today at The Buckinghamshire and continues until Sunday, 6 July.
