England finished fourth in the European Boys Team Championships in Sweden after losing 4-3 to Germany in the third-place contest on the final day.
Once again, the morning foursomes were shared, England winning a tight game with Max Orrin and Patrick Kelly securing a 1-hole victory over Dominic Pietzsch and Alexander Matlari.
But Toby Tree and Ashton Turner were on the wrong end of a 4&2 scoreline against Dominic Foos and Maximilian Mehles.
However, the Germans edged the singles 3-2 after taking the top game when Matlari beat Tree 4&3.
England fought back with two big 6&4 wins, Orrin continuing his good form in overcoming Mehles, while Turner repeated the scoreline against Marcel Ohorn.
But the Germans took the other two games, Pietzsch beating Nick Marsh 2&1 while Matthew Fitzpatrick lost by 2-holes to Foos.
Over the week, Tree was England’s busiest and most successful player with four points from six games, while Turner gained three from five outings.
The title was won by hosts Sweden who beat Italy 5-2 in the final.
