Ellie Perks and DSA to host Golf Day at Hagley Golf Club

“Golf is one of the most accessible sports you can participate in,” says EDGA star Ellie Perks as she gets set to spread this message in an upcoming golf day at her hometown club.

On Sunday 3 October, Ellie and the Dwarf Sports Association (DSA) will be hosting an inclusive golf day for people with short stature at Hagley Golf Club from 12pm until 3pm.

The event will offer a free opportunity for people with dwarfism to give golf a go, regardless of age or ability, and aims to raise the profile of golfers with a disability and show how golf is a game #FOREeveryone.

The day will be packed full of fun golf activities, where participants can get to try their hand at putting, chipping, and driving, before being split into teams for a competition to round off the event.

Whilst the aim is to get more people out on the golf course, Ellie also hopes participants learn skills that will help them continue their golfing journeys.

“I’m looking forward to being able to provide this opportunity for others based on my own experience.”

She said: “It’s good to see people with dwarfism trying golf out and hopefully they’ll take something out of it, whether that be going to the range more often, having lessons or joining a club.

“I’ve done an event like this in the past and it’s gone down well, so now restrictions have lifted, we thought we would do another one.

“We want to raise awareness because there might be people out there who want to try golf with dwarfism, but don’t know how to get involved.

“I’m looking forward to being able to provide this opportunity for others based on my own experience.”

Ellie will provide expert coaching at the event run by the DSA. If you would like to find out more or get involved, please contact tom.mills@dsauk.org to register your interest.
