Net score stroke play competitions
England Golf run a number of net score stroke play competitions for club golfers.
By returning individual 18 hole handicap qualifying competition scores, women at golf courses across the country participate in the England Golf Women’s Medal. Competing to represent their club in one of the six Regional Finals, they are aiming to be named as England Golf’s Women’s Handicap Golfer of the Year at the conclusion of the Golf Week National Final.
The Australian Spoons is a foursomes event for Women with a Handicap Index between 14.5 and 54.0, played first in a club qualifier before also progressing to Regional and National Finals. Further details of your Regional Final can be found on the Women’s Regional Events pages.
For your club to host a qualifying event for both these events, mark spring or early summer dates in the diary to play an 18 hole fourball Betterball competition. The top 52 pairs in each event will contest the Final at Thonock Park this September.
The R&A 9 Hole Challenge is your opportunity to lead the way for the 2021 Champion Golfer of the Year at Royal St. George’s this summer. When you play a 9 hole competition at your club, before the 9 June, submit the score to the online portal for to be in with a chance to be one of the top 9 pairs across the country to be invited to the final on Saturday 10 July 2021.
New for 2021 is the Race to Woodhall Spa in which every male playing member of a golf club affiliated to England Golf has the chance to be crowned England Golf’s Men’s Handicap Golfer of the Year. Any score recorded in an individual 18 hole stoke play competition from 1 April to 11 July 2021 can be submitted to the online portal, and up to 60 of the leading scorers will be invited to the Final at Golf Week in August.
As well as these events at your golf club, we are delighted to offer club golfers the ‘championship experience’ with our new AM-AM Series. Held prior to the Brabazon Trophy at Ganton, English Women’s Strokeplay Championship at Wallasey and Carris Trophy at Bristol and Clifton, these 3 events offer a unique opportunity to get to know what it feels like to be an elite amateur golfer.
