The final line-up for the 2021 Brabazon Trophy has been completed after this week’s qualifiers for the midland and northern regions.
The English Men’s Open Amateur Stroke Play for the Brabazon Trophy will be staged at Ganton Golf Club in Yorkshire from 19-22 August.
At Spalding Golf Club, host of the midland qualifier, Sam Potter from Kedleston Park led the way with a five under par round of 67.
The Derbyshire golfer’s round started with a barrage of birdies – three in the opening three holes – and he maintained his form to lead a total of 19 qualifiers from the midland region.
At The Oaks Golf Club, Harry Lord from Rossendale carded the best round of the day to win the northern qualifier.
Lord’s eight under par round of 64 was all the more remarkable given that he started with back-to-back bogeys.
A run of seven birdies and two eagles made sure that he headed a field of 30 players making it through to the main event at Ganton.
Last week, Italian Riccardo Fantinelli shot a course record equalling round of 63 to lead the 24 qualifiers from the southern region event at Brokenhurst Manor.
