Golf clubs are not allowed to adjust the handicaps of golfers in category one – plus to five – without the permission of their county union or association.
The club’s handicap committee must supply a full record of the player’s scores and its recommendation to reduce or increase the handicap.
If the county approves the change it will give the club a password to insert in its handicapping software to make the adjustment. To create this, counties should click here and enter their own password and the name of the player.
The same system applies to players in category two – six to 12 – whose handicaps are being reduced to take them in to category one.
Counties with any queries about this system should contact Gemma Hunter, England Golf Handicap and Course Rating Manager.
