Annabel Dimmock reveals how golf club membership put her on the path to success

We caught up with Ladies European Tour star Annabel Dimmock at the recent Aramco Team Series event at the Centurion Club.

The former National Squad player, who competed in the 2014 Curtis Cup, told us her memories of joining a golf club as a young girl, and how it provided the springboard for a professional career.

“The first golf club I joined was Gerrard’s Cross in Buckinghamshire,” said Annabel.

“I first joined a club just to play with other, younger girls. They also did a cygnet programme where we played with older people at the club and they would show us the ropes.

“At a golf club, you learn how to play with other people and the etiquette of the game, which is sometimes more important than learning the actual sport!”

Having developed as a talented junior golfer in Buckinghamshire, Annabel is now a member at Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey, training and playing there when she is not competing in professional tournaments.

“I love being at my current club at Wentworth. The members are amazing. I chat to loads of them every day. We have our good banter and they treat me like a normal person and vice-versa.

“I love playing with club members and feeling like part of a family there.

“Everyone should consider joining a golf club because it’s great to have your Sunday four-ball or people you play with every week.

“It’s also an opportunity to play with different people, maybe who you’ve said hi to on the range. You can have a game with them and you never know – you can build friendships, relationships and business contacts.”
