England international Bronte Law has made a winning start on the US women’s college circuit with a victory in her first term – and a ‘Player of the Week’ award.
Bronte, from Bramhall in Cheshire, shot eight-under par to win the Pac-12 Preview tournament at the Nanea Golf Club in Hawaii. She scored 70, 65, 76 and had 12 birdies in her second round and just one bogey over the opening 36 holes.
The 18-year-old is a freshman student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her achievement has also won her Golfweek magazine’s accolade of ‘Player of the Week’. Bronte had previously tied second in a tournament in October.
Bronte (image © Leaderboard Photography) is one of four members of the England Golf Women’s Performance Squad, who are at college in the USA. She was a member of the winning GB&I team at the 2012 Curtis Cup and played for Europe in this year’s Junior Solheim Cup match. She won the Cartier Trophy at the 2013 French Lady Junior Championship and made the cut at the 2012 Women’s British Open finishing tied 33rd.

Alison Knowles (Hickleton/Louisiana-Monroe University) who won back-to-back events; Jess Bradley (Tiverton/Lynn University, Florida) who scored her second college win; and Elizabeth Haycock (Moseley/Old Dominion, Virginia) who achieved her third college win.
