Sustainability the key for England Golf and Cube Modular

England Golf’s commitment to place sustainability at the heart of its operations has been boosted by a new tie-up with Cube Modular, the provider of portable office space at four of this summer’s biggest amateur golf championships.

The world-leading company, based in Worcester, will supply state-of-the-art, temporary buildings for staff and volunteers at next week’s Brabazon Trophy, the European Men’s Team Championships, the English Amateur Championships and the English Women’s Stroke Play.

In contrast to the transportation and use of traditional fixed-frame units, Cube Modular’s innovative cabins are the most sustainable portable accommodation solution available to the events industry worldwide and reduce CO2 and GHG emissions by 80%.

“We’re really looking forward to working with England Golf to minimise the carbon footprint of this season’s events with our unique foldable portable cabins”, said Brandon Weston, MD of Cube Modular.

“Our award-winning units provide high quality, flexible buildings that can be folded down and stacked, reducing transport C02 emissions and slashing haulage costs.”

The cabins will be used at venues including Royal St George’s Golf Club (European Men’s Team Championship), Saunton Golf Club (Brabazon Trophy), Lindrick and Worksop Golf Clubs (English Amateur Championship) and Beau Desert Golf Club (English Women’s Stroke Play).

James Crampton, England Golf’s director of championships, commented: “In everything we do as a championships team, the environmental impact of our work is now carefully considered.

“Last year was our first full season of digital scoring and a move to a virtually paper-free championship environment.

“This year we are switching over to bamboo instead of wooden tee pegs for competitors and are encouraging players to recycle all plastic bottles by providing recycling bins at various points around the course at each of our championships.

“By choosing Cube Modular for office solutions at several of our key, large-scale events we are going that one step further to make sure that our carbon footprint is as small as possible.”
