A total of 19 golfers came through regional qualifying yesterday to book places in the national final of England Golf’s Gold Medal Tournament to find the male handicap golfer of the year.
They qualified at regional finals held at Ingestre Park Golf Club, Staffordshire, and Burnham & Berrow Golf Club in Somerset.
They will play off for the title, alongside qualifiers from two other regional finals, on Friday 12 August at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire, during England Golf Week.
The qualifiers from Ingestre Park were:
Robert Dickinson of Sudbrook Moor Golf Club, Lincolnshire; Roman Toloczko of Scraptoft Golf Club, Leciestershire; Steve Collins of Bransford Golf Club, Worcestershire; Matthew King of Ely City Golf Club, Cambridgeshire; Gavin Rogers of Stock Brook Manor Golf Club, Essex; Matthew Phillips of Ingon Manor Golf Club, Warwickshire; Ron Logan of Ingestre Park Golf Club, Staffordshire; Christopher Bryan of Ingestre Park Golf Club, Staffordshire; Raph Richards of Oakmere Park Commanders Golf Club, Nottinghamshire.
The qualifiers from Burnham & Berrow were:
Stephen Dawes of Tewkesbury Park Hotel Golf and Country Club, Gloucestershire; Brian Winteridge of Churston Golf Club, Devon; Graham Virgin of Saunton Golf Club, Devon; Christopher Hicks of Clevedon Golf Club, Somerset; Russell Weller of Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club, Dorset; James Barnes of Shirehampton Park Golf Club, Gloucestershire; Nigel Hoskins of Fingle Glen Golf Club, Devon; Graham Anstey of The Kendleshire Golf Club, Gloucestershire; Martin Lee of Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire; Steve Crabb of Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club, Dorset.
All the regional finalists had won a club medal during 2015. The national final will be played during England Golf Week which is staged by England Golf to create a national grand finale for a host of handicap and team championships.
