Sixteen golfers, including 11 from Yorkshire, have won through to the national final of England Golf’s Gold Medal tournament to find the male handicap golfer of the year.
They qualified at a regional final at Ilkley Golf Club in Yorkshire and will play off for the title on Friday 12 August at Frilford Heath Golf Club, during England Golf Week.
The successful 16 are (Yorkshire unless stated): Scott Colquhoun (Hanging Heaton), Richard Seels (The Oaks), Philip Hills (Whickham, Durham), Nicholas Bowman (Hexham, Northumberland), Matthew Ryder (Skipton), Brian Fisher (Pontefract & District), Clive Swiers (Ripon City), Peter Williams (Bridlington Links), Eric Welburn (Ganton), Jonathan Teasdale (Oakleaf, Durham), John Goodacre (Harrogate), Adam Beattie (Prenton, Cheshire), Julian Brown (Horwich, Lancashire), Jonny Dunning (Malton & Norton), Mick Fisher (Romanby), Neil Atkinson (Romanby).
All the regional finalists had won a club medal during 2015. The successful 16 will meet qualifiers from three other regional finals at Golf Week, which is staged by England Golf to create a national grand finale for a host of handicap and team championships.
