Club Activator Courses

England Golf, in partnership with the other Home Unions, supported by the R&A, Golf Foundation and PGA, have teamed up to develop a new Club Activator Course to expand the workforce introducing new golfers to the game.

The course is an interactive and practical session to provide attendees with the skills to support the PGA Coach deliver activity within the golf facility.

With golf in high demand and lots of people being new to the sport, this course comes at the perfect time. Ultimately the Activator programme will get more people playing the game and developing a lifelong passion for the game.

Rob Drinkwater, England Golf’s Head of Participation, said: “We all know learning to play golf isn’t that easy and professional tuition is the key factor to turning people into golfers. However, playing and practice are the other fundamental elements and making this a enjoyable and rewarding as possible is where the Activators come in.”

The training courses will give the Activators the skills to help set up, supervise and deliver non-technical games and activities to suit the audience, whether that’s juniors or adults, and it should be stressed their job won’t involve coaching, so you don’t have to be a great golfer to be an Activator.

Drinkwater said: “We want to more people to see golf as a sport that’s for them and to do that we need to diversify the workforce. This Activator Course is designed to help achieve this, as you don’t involve coaching and therefore you don’t need to be a great golfer to become an Activator.”

PGA Chief Executive Robert Maxfield commented: “PGA Members are the gatekeepers of the game of golf, they do an incredible job in helping hundreds and thousands of people to access the game through coaching. We want to help our members by providing them with a way to reach even more people, especially juniors. The Activator programme does just that”.

Thanks to the support of the R&A, for a limited time, we are able to offer this course for just £35, instead of £50.

Courses are three and a half hours long. Minimum age for attendance is 14 years old.

Attendees get a certificate, workbook, and games cards.
