England’s U16 boys began their 2016 campaign against the other home countries with a resounding 15-5 win over Wales at Newport Golf Club.
The match started with a close opening session of singles in which England edged ahead by one point, winning 4.5-3.5.
The team extended their lead with a 4-1 win in the foursomes and signed off with an excellent performance in the final eight singles in which they were unbeaten – winning 7 games and halving one.

England U16 team manager Nick Over commented: “The boys excelled in the final round of singles after what was a close initial opening round.
“This is a good result, with a number of younger players featuring for England and it bodes well for the future.
“We will need similar performances when we take on Scotland and Ireland in the next couple of months to maintain our current run of results with the England U16 team.”
