London Foursomes is snowed off

The Berkshire

Snow stopped play in the 2013 Ladies’ London Foursomes and the event was abandoned after it proved impossible to find a date for the remaining 16 teams to complete the competition.

Among the games waiting to be played at The Berkshire was the much anticipated third-round clash between the holders, Wentworth, represented again by Annabel Dimmock and Inci Mehmet, and the Brocket Hall pair of Gabriella Cowley and Esther Strous. Both Gabriella and Annabel will represent England Golf in the French Lady Junior Championship later this week.

Among the other teams through to the final 16 was Roehampton, represented by the Fuller sisters, Samantha and Annabell, with a combined age of 24. They were three down with three to play in the first round and won on the 19th hole against Henley.  Their afternoon match was much more straightforward when they beat Ealing 7/6.  Sammy is a past winner of the English U13 championship.

The 2011 British senior champion, Felicity Christine and her partner, Maggie Lowe from Woking were also through to the third round.

The 2010 winners Worplesdon, runners up last year, were beaten in the second round by Chart Hills as the light was fading and the rain getting heavier. A total of 64 clubs played in the first round.

The dates for 2014 are 28–30 March at The Berkshire Golf Club.
