Nathan Kimsey pulled off a dramatic victory against an international field when he won the 54-hole Terra Cotta Invitational event at the Naples National Golf Club in Florida.
The England international from Woodhall Spa returned a closing 71 for an aggregate of 212, four under par, to win by a shot from Robby Shelton from Alabama and by two from the rest of the field.
Kimsey, 20, was involved in a classic head-to-head battle with Shelton for most of the final day. They were paired together with the lead changing back and forth during the round.
But the crucial moment came on the 18th which Kimsey parred while Shelton fired his second shot into water and finished with a bogey to slip one behind.
Kimsey’s success follows three runners-up spots during his spell in Australia with England colleagues, while he was also a member of the victorious England team in the recent European Nations Championship in Spain.
