Lily May Humphreys and Ellen Hume (pictured) will meet in this afternoon’s final of the English Women’s Amateur Championship at Saunton Golf Club, Devon.
They played their way in contrasting fashion through foul conditions in this morning’s semi-finals, with wind and rain sweeping across the links.
Humphreys (Stoke by Nayland) marched through her march, playing two-under par to defeat Jess Baker (Gosforth Park Ladies) 7/6.
The 17-year-old international picked up the momentum when she chipped in for birdie on the fourth. She then won six holes in a row from the sixth, helped with more birdies on nine and 10, before halving the 12th in par for the win.
In the other semi-final, Hume (Mill Green) staged an impressive comeback to beat Emily Brennan (Trentham) 3/1.
Hume, 19, was four behind after the first five holes, but began her rally on the eighth. From there, she steadily pegged back the deficit until she led by one hole after 14. Once in front she stayed there, winning the 15th and 17th with birdies to close out the game.
