English stroke play champion Alex Peters and fellow internationals Gabriella Cowley and Amber Ratcliffe will represent England Golf in the Nations Cup event at the Spanish women’s amateur championship next week.
The championship takes place from Wednersday, 27 February to Sunday, 3 March at Pula Golf, Mallorca. The Nations Cup will be played over the two stroke play rounds of the event, which decide the top 32 players who go forward to the matchplay stages.
Alex Peters, 19, (Notts Ladies’) won the 2012 English women’s stroke play title and was a member of England’s winning team at the women’s Home Internationals. Last season she also won the Independent Schools’ championship, the Nottinghamshire ladies’ title and shared the Porters Park Centenary Cup. She represented England in the South American amateur early this year.
Gabriella Cowley, 16, (Brocket Hall) is the 2012 Scottish and North of England U16 champion and a past English U15 titleholder. She was in England’s winning teams at the girls’ and ladies’ Home Internationals and helped Essex to win County Finals.
Amber Ratcliffe,17, (Royal Cromer) is the England Golf East region women’s champion and was a member of the winning England teams at the girls’ and ladies’ Home Internationals. She has twice won the English schools’ U16 championship.
Gabriella and Amber represented Team GB in the golf championship at the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney taking fifth and eighth places respectively
