Seven English amateurs, led by girls’ champion Emily Taylor, have cleared the first hurdle for a place in the Ricoh Women’s British Open.

They were among the 30 players who got through pre-qualifying at The Berkshire and now go forward to join the field at final qualifying at Caldy Golf Club on the Wirral, on Monday, September 10. The championship itself takes place at Royal Liverpool from 13-16 September.

As well as winning English girls’ championship she is also the Irish women’s open stroke play champion, and the winner of the U18 titles at both the English women’s stroke play – where she was third overall – and the British women’s stroke play, where she was fourth.

The other English amateurs to reach final qualifying are: Ashleigh Greenham (West Essex), Nicole Whitmore (Woburn), Charlotte Leatham (Styal), Charlotte Thompson (Channels), Charlotte Wild (Mere) and English stroke play champion Alex Peters (Notts Ladies’).

They will be joined at final qualifying by England’s four Curtis Cup players: Holly Clyburn (Woodhall Spa), Charley Hull (Woburn), Bronte Law (Bramhall) and Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale).

The top 25 players and ties came through pre-qualifying at The Berkshire with the cut falling on two-over par 74.
