European Ladies' Amateur Championship

European Ladies’ Amateur Championship

The European Ladies’ Amateur Championship will be played in England for the second time when it is hosted by Parkstone Golf Club in Dorset.

The champion will be rewarded with a place in the Women’s British Open at Woburn.

Three English players have been European champions and all come from the north: Bronte Law (2016) and Joanne Morley (1992) both hail from Cheshire, while Emma Duggleby, now Brown, (2000) is from Yorkshire.

Among the title holders are a host of Solheim Cup players such as Morley, Becky Brewerton, Carlota Ciganda and Caroline Hedwall.

The championship attracts a world-class field and three Major winners are among its bronze medallists: Anna Nordqvist, Suzann Pettersen and Helen Alfredsson.

It last visited England in 1997 when it was hosted by Formby Golf Club, Lancashire, and Italy’s Silva Cavalleri successfully defended her title.
