How to identify barriers and what to do about them

Removing physical barriers

We have a responsibility to make it easy for people to access our facilities. Once you’ve completed an access audit, you’ll notice that many of the changes you need are quite minor.

Download the Activity Alliance Access All Areas guide for expert advice on what improvements to make.

Talking to your community

At least one in four households has a connection to a disabled person. So it’s worth asking your members and visitors for opinions. People might show you areas for improvements you wouldn’t normally notice. They can also help you set priorities if your club is short on time or cash.

As well as asking for input, you should promote the club’s accessibility. It could help raise your profile if you share information like the number of accessible parking bays and toilets, or photos of the entrances.
