England international Annabel Dimmock put in a fine performance to finish runner-up in the SALLY, the South Atlantic women’s amateur championship on the Orange Blossom Tour in Florida.
The 17-year-old from Wentworth was one over par for the 72-hole event – despite a triple bogey seven on the 15th hole of her last round. She recovered well to put the setback behind her and finished with three pars for a one-over 73. She added it to earlier scores of 70, 75 and 71.
Annabel was four shots behind the winner, Brooke Henderson, the 16-year-old Canadian women’s amateur champion; and eight strokes ahead of the third placed pair, who included Chloe Williams of Wales.
In the previous week’s Orange Blossom tournament, the Harder Hall Invitational, Annabel finished 14th. The event provided a showcase for English talent with Lincolnshire’s India Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) taking fifth place and England girl international Sammy Fuller (Roehampton) finishing 11th.
