Information for Parents

As the parent of a junior golfer, it is important to know that your child is receiving a quality experience within golf and that their wellbeing is safeguarded when they are participating.

England Golf supported by the England Golf Partnership are continually working to develop junior golf in England, by creating and enhancing schemes and resources which all help to improve the provision for juniors and ensure that their welfare is paramount.

Below are just a few of the ways in which England Golf are developing junior golf in England:

Safeguarding Children

The Children in Golf (CIG) Strategy Group was formed to produce a child protection policy for golf, across Great Britain and Ireland. The bodies work together to:

  • Develop, monitor and review golf’s safeguarding strategy.
  • Ensure that strategic decisions concerning child protection in golf are managed and communicated throughout the partnership.
  • Ensure that there is a consistent approach to child protection throughout golf.

If you have any concerns about a child, please contact the Compliance Team at England Golf on 01526 351824.

Equity

England Golf have produced an equity statement and policy, adapted for golf clubs which ensures that no participant should receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of age, gender, parental or martial status, colour, race, ethnic origin, creed, disability, social status or sexual preference or should be disadvantaged by conditions or requirements that cannot be shown to be relevant to performance.

GolfMark Clubs

The England Golf GolfMark Award (including Clubmark) is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities – further information can be found on the GolfMark website.

Junior Organisers’ Handbook

England Golf produce a Junior Organisers’ Handbook which helps to guide golf clubs on a variety of issues within junior golf.
