Club Support Officer

(main work area/County – Cornwall)
Salary Band 3 (£20,000 - £25,000 per annum plus benefits)

England Golf’s new strategy is being launched in Spring 2017 with a strong focus on supporting Stronger Counties and Clubs. Club Support Officers are core to this delivery and provide a customer focused service to counties and clubs based on the demand within a designated region. They support activities identified within County Action Plans to provide bespoke support to golf clubs looking to improve their business, increase their membership and player base and offering innovative solutions. A key purpose is to help promote and raise awareness of our strategic ambitions and initiatives, including focus on marketing core market golfers within a designated region.

This vacancy covers the Cornwall region. Applicants will need to live within the main work area associated with this role.

We are seeking candidates, ideally, with a sports related diploma and sports development experience. You must have a good knowledge of the structure of golf (general and administrative) and sport in general. The skills required include the ability to communicate and present, work collaboratively with both paid staff and volunteers and IT skills. You will also need to be highly motivated.

Prior work experience in golf club environment and/or programme delivery is desirable but not essential.

These positions are home based, although successful candidates will be required to travel as necessary to meetings (valid driving licence & car owner is essential). The post-holder will be entitled to travel and other expenses.

Regional Coach - South Region U16 Boys

England Golf is seeking applications for the position of Regional Coach to the South Region Under 16 Boys Squad. Each Regional Squad will comprise players chosen at Assessment Days and will generally be for players under 16 years of age. The South Region consists of the Surrey, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands geographical areas.

The position will be based on 20 days coaching with attendance at the England Golf Christmas Coaching Conference, coach education days and any relevant team meetings, induction and tournament attendance.

The focus of the role will be to develop sound basics, technical competency, performance skills and an excellent short game in all players.

Requirements of the Applicant:
 

  • PGA Qualified;
  • Experience of developing elite golfers;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Sound management skills;
  • Enthusiastic, personable and competitive

Regional Development Officer (East Midlands) - Golf Foundation

Starting salary c.£26,500 plus car plus benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Golf Foundation’s expanding network of regional development officers and coordinate the successful HSBC Golf Roots programme in the East Midlands region of England (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire).

The Officer will work closely with PGA Coaches and officials/volunteers in golf clubs, and in partnership with officers from England Golf and the Professional Golfers’ Association, to help more young people ‘Start, Learn and Stay’ in the sport. In addition, the successful candidate will work with a variety of national and local partners such as StreetGames, County Sports Partnerships, clubs and schools to help more young people enjoy the playing and personal benefits of golf.

A sound knowledge of sports development principles and practices is essential, as is experience of sports development work with schools, communities and clubs.

Good IT skills, experience of operating Microsoft Office, and the ability to communicate effectively in a variety of circumstances are all required. An appropriate leisure or teaching qualification is desirable. Applicants should have an interest, but not necessarily a background, in golf.
