EGU and EWGA Merger Proposal
A vote to merge The English Golf Union and English Women’s Golf Association into a single National Governing Body for golf took place on Wednesday 16th November 2011.
The merger proposal was approved by 86 per cent of the voting members of the EGU and by 100 per cent of the voting members of the EWGA. Both organisations had to approve the proposal by a majority of at least 75 per cent for it to be successful.
The merger will come into effect on 1 January 2012 and will create England Golf, one national governing body to represent all amateur golfers in England. More details regarding the vote and the reaction of both Chairmen can be found in the merger press release.
The full proposal document which includes: the proposal, the business case, Articles of Association & Rules, financial statements and frequently asked questions, and a letter from the EGU and EWGA Chairmen are available to read and download from this page.
