Men's Amateur Championship (supported by Abacus)
The Championship shall be played in two stages:
Stage One: Stroke Play. Two rounds of 18 holes stroke play over two days (Monday and Tuesday), one round on each of two courses.
Stage Two: Match Play. The players with the 64 lowest scores after the stroke play will compete in the match play stages. In the case of ties for 64th place, stroke play countback will apply to the round played at Silloth on Solway. They will be seeded according to their stroke play finishing place. This stage of the Championship will be played at Silloth on Solway.
- 04.08.12: Ellis crowned youngest ever English champion - Harry Ellis is the new English Amateur champion. He won the title, supported by abacus, by beating Henry Tomlinson 2 and 1 in a 36-hole marathon final that lasted ten minutes short of 11 hours after two thunderstorm stoppages.
- 04.08.12: Ellis battles back to gain one shot interval lead - Despite trailing for most of the morning round, Harry Ellis went into lunch 1-up against Henry Tomlinson after the opening session of the 36-hole English Amateur Championship final, supported by abacus, at a storm-threatened Silloth-on-Solway.
- 03.08.12: Ellis faces Tomlinson in north v south tussle for title - Harry Ellis from Hampshire will meet Lancashire's Henry Tomlinson in a north v south battle over 36-holes tomorrow for the English Amateur Championship, supported by abacus, at Silloth-on-Solway.
- 03.08.12: Tomlinson ends Raymond's double hopes - The 18th hole, which had been a happy hunting ground for Neil Raymond, brought the end of his double bid in this morning's quarter finals of the English Amateur Championship, supported by Abacus, at sunny Silloth-on-Solway.
